James A. Oliverio, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in joint replacement surgery, arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine; as well as trauma and fracture care. Dr. Oliverio performed the first robotic assisted hip replacement in the state of Pennsylvania and was one of the first surgeons in central PA to offer robotic assisted hip and knee replacements.
Dr. Oliverio completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. He graduated with honors from New York Medical College, where he earned his Medical Degree. He completed his orthopedic training at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center/Texas Tech University residency program, where he served as Chief Resident. Prior to moving to central Pennsylvania in 2005, Dr. Oliverio served as an officer and orthopedic surgeon with the U.S. Army for 11 years. He was deployed numerous times and supported our troops during conflict as Chief of Orthopedics of the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Kosovo and again during war time as the Chief of orthopedic surgery of the 28th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq.
Dr. Oliverio is a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons (ABOS) and the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS).
